How
the days are long at little St. Rose,
Long in the leaf-time, long in July,
Very long when the winter sunshine glows!
In Xmas week when the shops disclose
To the people in town grand things to buy,
|

| How
the days are long at little Ste. Rose!
“Yes!” pouts Corinne, with her little
nose
At the window pane, “it is long!”
(with a sigh)
“Very long when the winter sunshine glows,
And there is but Josephe and mon oncle
who doze,
|
10 |
And
nothing outside but the snow and the sky—
How the days are long at little Ste. Rose.
I can tell you—quick!” Ah, the fierce
little pose
Of the petulant puss who the Fates would defy!
What! Long when the winter sunshine glows,
|
15 |
In the spring time too? Now I think if she chose,
I would willingly turn aside and try
If the days are long at little Ste. Rose,
Very long when the winter sunshine glows.
